2019: APC chairpersons reject party’s senator, endorse opponent

The chairpersons of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the six local governments that make up Kaduna Central Senatorial district have endorsed a rival candidate as senator for the zone. The district is currently represented in the Senate by Shehu Sani, an activist and member of the APC. Mr. Sani has had a running battle with the governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Rising from a meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, the APC chairmen endorsed a political adviser to Mr. El-Rufai, Uba Sani, for the ticket, come 2019. The six local governments whose APC leaders endorsed the endorsement are Chikun, Birnin Gwari, Kajuru, Kaduna North, Kaduna South and Giwa. Abdullahi Ganduje. EFCC in fresh moves against Patience Jonathan’s $8.4m, N7.3bn found in 15 bank accounts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is in fresh moves to seize funds in 15 bank accounts linked to Mrs. Patience Jonathan. The funds, which the EFCC is seeking to seize, include a total of $8,435,788.84 and over N7.35bn. The EFCC had appeared before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos with an ex parte application, seeking the forfeiture of the funds. Federal Government Wants Supreme Court To Restore All The Charges Against Saraki In The Fresh Corruption Trial Ordered By The Court Of Appeal

  by Ade Adesomoju, Abuja Jan 16, 2018 The Federal Government has appealed to the Supreme Court to restore all the 18 false assets declaration and other related charges instituted against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, but which were dismissed by the Code of Conduct Tribunal in June 2017.  In its December 12, 2017 judgment, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal had restored three out of the 18 counts but affirmed the decision of the CCT with respect to the rest of the 15 counts on the grounds of lack of evidence.  Saraki had since filed a seven-ground notice of appeal against the part of the Court of Appeal’s judgment restoring the three counts.  But the Federal Government on Tuesday filed a counter-appeal of 15 grounds against the part of the judgment which affirmed the dismissal of the 15 counts.  The CCT had in its June 14, 2017 ruling on the no-case submission which Saraki filed after the prosecution concluded its case, d

Man wanted for kidnapping in Akwa Ibom arrested in Jigawa

January 17, 2018 Abubakar Ahmadu Maishanu Notorious kidnapper, Emmamual Effiong Abang The police in Jigawa state have arrested a suspected kidnapper on the wanted list of Akwa-Ibom State Police Command. The police spokesperson, Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Wednesday in Dutse, Jigawa State capital. The suspect, Emmamual Effiong Abang, has reportedly been on the run since June last year. He was apprehended while trying to withdraw cash from a bank in Hadejia Local Government Area of the state. The police claimed that Mr. Abang, 35 years old, of Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State went into hiding specifically since June 4, 2017. Mr Jinjiri said the suspect had been shuttling between Nguru Local Government Area of Yobe State and Hadejia LGA since he was declared wanted.
